Sustainable Energy Event

The Technion Society Event that was hosted by KPMG on June 16, 2009 was a great success!
It was an exclusive event that served as an introduction to a larger gala event that will take place this fall.

The presentation of Professor Gepstein raised a lot of interest among the guests of the event. Therefore, his presentation was followed by a very lively discussion on the genetics of plant ageing. Developing plants that age later than they are supposed to should provide a net energy gain, require only small amounts of agricultural water, be economically competitive, and be producible in large quantities for biofuel production without reducing food supplies.

The main topic of this event was sustainable energy. The renowned professor from the Technion,  Prof. Shimon Gepstein - gave a presentation on biofuels as an alternative to fossil fuels. Pim van den Dam and Wim van Sluis covered the topic of sustainability in Rotterdam. Moreover, Shimon Arbel (from the Technion) talked about the research that is being carried out in the area of green energy at the Technion.
